Advanced Digital Systems for project management

Course objectives

Knowledge and understanding At the end of the course, the student must have acquired knowledge and understanding, as well as skills that allow to support, from a theoretical-methodological, and practical point of view, to be able to carry out specific software applications in complete autonomy aimed at environmental and energy management maintenance of the built environment The verification of knowledge will be carried out through ongoing tests and the exam itself. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding At the end of the course the student will have to demonstrate mastery of the basic concepts of digitization for the finalization of the acquired knowledge and understanding, to solve energy analysis problems, data visualization and analysis, management of applications for building and plant maintenance. These capabilities will be verified in the context of practical activities, through the creation of customized application cases Learning ability At the end of the course the student will have to demonstrate a high capacity for independent learning, The acquisition of these skills will take place through the specific theoretical contributions imparted by the teacher during the course, aimed at expanding the framework of skills for the digital application of issues concerning the environmental energy management of buildings and infrastructures and the organization of maintenance The verification of skills will take place, above all, through the exam, structured in such a way as to highlight the detailed level of learning of the different topics in a digital key.

Course program
The course illustrates the growing impact of digitalization on the construction sector, then delves into the use of the main software for information design at the building and urban level. The concept of the digital twin is introduced, as a digital twin of the physical reality that acquires information from IoT sensors, which is then processed by business intelligence and artificial intelligence algorithms.
Prerequisites
No specific prerequisites are required to participate and understand the topics covered. However, it is important to have a preliminary exam on digital systems for the construction process.
Books
• Costruire digitale: scenari per un project management 4.0 (S. Agostinelli; F. Ruperto ) edizione Esculapio 2021
Frequency
The course takes place in the first semester of the academic year, beginning in October and ending in early January. Attendance is five hours per week, as per the faculty calendar.
Exam mode
Exams are held exclusively in written format, in the classroom, with a combination of multiple-choice and open-ended questions. The questions will cover all topics covered in class. Specifically: the use of the main software programs at the building and urban scale, the concept of digital twins, and the rationale for applying machine learning to the built environment.
Lesson mode
Teaching takes place frequently in the classroom, according to the official lesson schedule. These are developed by illustrating the syllabus topics, inviting and encouraging students to comment and discuss the topics covered.
