ADDITIVE MANUFACTURING AND LASER TEXTURING

Course objectives

The objective of the course is to provide students with knowledge on: unconventional processes that allow to operate on the structural modification of surfaces or on the generation of complex surface structures, both on a micro and nano scale; additive manufacturing technologies applied to complex shape. The main manufacturing processes will be identified among those of main industrial interest in order to allow students: (i) to acquire knowledge on the thermal, chemical and mechanical mechanisms, (ii) to acquire knowledge on the performance of the manufactured parts, (iii) to make considerations about economic, performance and technological aspects, (iv) gain knowledge and abilities to design a component fabrication by means of the necessary additive manufacturing steps.
