The Integrated Course of Internal Medicine and General Surgery 3 includes Medical Clinic and General Surgical Clinic and is taught in the second semester of the sixth year of the Master's Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery.
At the end of the sixth year and upon completion of the Integrated Course, students will have learned to study patients' clinical cases, to formulate diagnostic questions, and to propose the diagnostic and therapeutic approach to solve clinical cases.

To successfully attend the Integrated Course of Internal Medicine and General Surgery 3, students must have passed the exams of the first four years of the Master's Degree Course in Medicine and Surgery.

Ventral hernias and laparocele.
Surgical Clinic of the Thyroid, Parathyroids, and Adrenal Gland.
Surgical Clinic of the Breast.
Surgical Clinic of the Esophagus.
Surgical Clinic of the Diaphragm.
Surgical Clinic of the Stomach, Duodenum, and Small Intestine.
Surgical Clinic of the Colon, Rectum, Anorectal Canal, and Sacrococcygeal Region.
Surgical Clinic of the Liver, Bile Ducts, and Pancreas.
Surgical Clinic of the Spleen and Retroperitoneum.
Surgical Clinic of Obesity.

Students can study the texts of their choice, considering that sources of knowledge are scientific articles published in international scientific journals with impact factor and indexed in Scopus and Web of Science.

The Integrated Course takes place in the classroom, in person, with lectures on Internal Medicine and General Surgery, as well as the presentation of clinical cases.

Students attend the Integrated Course in person and certify their presence by signing the attendance sheets during the lesson.

The exam for Internal Medicine and General Surgery 3 is a final oral examination with the professors of the Integrated Course.
Students are examined by a professor of Internal Medicine and a professor of General Surgery in two separate sessions.
The final grade is the average of the two scores.

Clinical Case.
74-year-old woman, retired.
Physiological history: normal lifestyle habits, normal eater, does not drink or smoke. Regular urination, alternating bowel movements for several years, with recent diarrheal tendency.
Remote medical history: recalls common childhood rashes.
Current medical history: the patient presented to the emergency room due to sudden onset of acute pain in the right iliac fossa, associated with nausea and food vomiting, fever (38.5°C), preceded by a diarrheal episode.
Physical examination: patient appears in distress, abdomen distended, tender, guarded.
X-ray of the abdomen shows multiple hydro-aeric levels.
The student is asked to complete the patient's medical history and physical examination, formulate the diagnostic question, and propose the diagnostic and therapeutic approach.
