LABORATORY PRACTICE
Obiettivi formativi
This module is intended to provide students with practical knowledge on Practical Laboratory classes in innovative imaging and chemical analytical techniques applied to Cultural Heritage and Archaeometry. Students will be able to develop critical thinking in assessing the potential and limitations inherent to the technologies studied in order to be able to correctly apply them to real case studies.

Programma
Practical Laboratory classes in various chemical analytical techniques available at the HERCULES Laboratory of the University of Évora (a list of analytical instruments is available at http://www.hercules.uevora.pt/analytical-infrastructure.php) applied to the study of Cultural Heritage objects and Archaeometry. Students will be involved in currently running research projects and involved in the analysis of archaeological materials gaining first-hand preliminary experience in sample preparation and running of the following techniques: SEM+EDS, Raman Spectroscopy, LA-ICP-MS, IRMS, FT-IR Spectroscopy, XRF, XRD, GC and LC- MS, Biochemical analysis.
