Archaeological Materials Science - Scienza dei Materiali Archeologici

The unit on Analytical Chemistry Applications aims at providing students with a detailed overview of different methods and analytical techniques used for scientific investigation applied to archaeological area, i.e. high-performance liquid chromatography, liquid chromatography/mass spectrometry. It discusses the nature of the analysis, the level of the analytical work, the results obtained and their interpretation. The students are also be introduced to basic sample preparation.

There are no specific prerequisites required

Teaching materials, including handouts, thematic websites and scientific articles will be distributed in class and posted on a dedicated Moodle page.

Attendance is mandatory

Final examination: written assignments with presentation in class

Time schedule - 8 weeks/6 h per week - general concepts: 6 h - deepening in the issues mentioned in the syllabus: 14 h - laboratory work in the methodologies mentioned in the syllabus: 10 h
