Educational objectives The course provides the mathematical tools necessary for the understanding of the mechanical behaviour of ancient masonry structures and for the use of computational models for the evaluation of their physical consistency. A critical review of computational models inherited from the past and those currently available, as commercial codes, is aimed at guiding the specialist operator towards the choice of the most appropriate and respectful model of the nature of the object of study; in the awareness that the structural analysis of historical masonry is nothing but one the diversified and multiple aspects of a single issue: the reading and interpretation of complex testimonies of history and art for the purposes of their protection and conservation. | |||||
