Curriculum

Giulio De Donato was born in Cork, Ireland. He received the M.S. and Ph.D degrees in electrical engineering from the University of Rome “La Sapienza”, Rome, Italy, in 2003 and 2007, respectively.
He was a Research Associate with the Department of Electrical Engineering, University of Rome “La Sapienza”, from 2007 to 2008; from 2008 to 2010 he was an Assistant Professor with the same Department and, since 2010, has been with the Department of Astronautical, Electrical and Energy Engineering. He is co-PI of a collaborative research agreement between the DIAEE and the Department of Electrical, Electronic Engineering and Computer Science, University of Catania, for research in the field of wide-bandgap-semiconductor-based drives. His current research interests include digital control of electrical drives and of grid connected inverters, and analysis and design of permanent magnet machines and of GaN-based power converters.
Dr. De Donato is a member of the IEEE Industry Applications, the IEEE Industrial Electronics and the IEEE Power Electronics Societies. He is a member of the IEEE IAS Industrial Drives Committee, the IAS Electric Machines Committee, the IES Electrical Machines Committee and the PELS Technical Committee on Motor Drives and Actuators. He received the 2014 First Prize Paper Award and the 2016 Third Prize Paper Award, both from the IAS Industrial Drives Committee. He is currently serving as an Associate Editor for the IEEE Transactions on Industry Applications.
