Pierpaolo D'Urso è Professore ordinario di Statistica presso Sapienza – Università di Roma ove è titolare delle cattedre di “Statistica” e “Data science e statistica multivariata”.
Presso lo stesso Ateneo è Preside della Facoltà di Scienze Politiche, Sociologia, Comunicazione, Direttore del Master in Data Science per la PA ed è stato Direttore del Dipartimento di Scienze Sociali ed Economiche, Prorettore con delega alla formazione del personale e Senatore Accademico.
Presso la Presidenza del Consiglio dei Ministri è stato componente della Commissione di esperti per la determinazione dei collegi elettorali e componente della Commissione per la Garanzia dell’Informazione Statistica.
È classificato nella World's Top 2% Scientists della Stanford University. È Associate Editor e referee di molte riviste internazionali di statistica e data science. È autore di oltre 200 pubblicazioni scientifiche. Gli attuali interessi di ricerca riguardano: fuzzy clustering; clustering di serie storiche; metodi di clustering per strutture complesse di dati; statistica e democrazia; statistica e istruzione; statistica e digitale; statistica elettorale; statistica e sport; statistica e lavoro pubblico.

Pierpaolo D'Urso is Full Professor of Statistics at Sapienza University of Rome, where he holds the chairs in "Statistics" and "Data Science and multivariate Statistics". At the same university, he currently serves as Dean of the Faculty of Political Science, Sociology, Communication, and as Director of the Master’s Program in Data Science for Public Administration. He has also served as Director of the Department of Social and Economic Sciences, Vice Rector for Staff Training, and Member of the Academic Senate.
At the Presidency of the Council of Ministers, he has been a member of the Expert Committee for the Delimitation of Electoral Districts and of the Committee for the Guarantee of Statistical Information. He is included in Stanford University’s World's Top 2% Scientists ranking.
He is Associate Editor and reviewer for several international journals in Statistics and Data Science and has authored over 200 scientific publications. His current research interests include: fuzzy clustering; time series clustering; clustering methods for complex data structures; statistics and democracy; statistics and education; statistics and digital transformation; electoral statistics; statistics and sports; statistics and public sector labor.
