Curriculum

Present position: Associate Professor of Geochemistry at the Dept. Earth Sci. – Sapienza, University of Rome, and Research Associate of INGV-RM1. Previous Appointments: CNR-IGAG (1994-2004); CNR-IGG (2004-2020). Research Activity: 1) triple oxygen investigation of minerals to reconstruct fluid/rock interaction and material recycling through time and space; 2) meteoric-hydrothermal systems as a proxy of earth climate evolution; 3) techniques for stable isotope analyses gaseous emissions; 4) hydrogheochemical investigation for seismic precursors; 5) CO2-melt interaction in magmatic rocks. In these years LD has built and managed three state-of-art stable isotope laboratories, namely at CNR-IGAG, CNR-IGG, DST-Uniroma1. LD ha salso led the CNR project on CO2 mineralogical sequestration (2009-2012); he was PI of Research Units in the framework of PNRA (2004-2006; 2009-2012) and also joined the following scientific campaigns: 1996-1997 (XII), 1999-2000 (XV), 2004-2005 (XIX), 2011-2012 (XXVII) Italian Antarctic Expeditions; and 1998 Swiss Geological Expedition to Himalaya (India). Relevant scientific collaborations: Short Term Mobility Program: “Crust-Mantle interactions in the Dabieshan area, (SE China)” at University of Science and Technology of China, Hefei, China (2005); Italy-China international cooperation project: Oxygen and Hydrogen Isotope Composition of perodotite xenoliths from Cenozoic basalts of East China: implications for mantle metasomatism”, CNR-IGG Pisa, IT - USTC Hefei, China (2005-2007); Short Term Mobility Program: “Chlorine isotope systmatics applied to Italia volcanic rocks” at Dept. Earth and Planetary Sciences, University of New Mexico, USA (2006); Short Term Mobility Program: “New analytical methods for stable isotope geochemistry” at Geowissenschaftiches Zentrum, University of Goettingen, Germany (2009); Short Term Mobility Program: “Triple oxygen isotope geochemistry of hydrothermally altered minerals: clues to cold episodes during the climatic greenhouse/icehouse transition” at Center for Stable Isotopes, University of New Mexico, USA (2018-2019). LD counts more than 70 contributions on high impact journals (H-index 36), and a number of communications to international congresses (AGU, Goldschmidt, EGU, etc). He has been invited speaker at EGU, and convener at EGU, Golschmidt and SIMP.
