LEARNING GOALS:
The professionalizing internship of 2nd year students is designed both to consolidate the knowledge and skills acquired in the 1st year, as well as to know how to apply the care process related to the promotion and maintenance of health, taking into account the therapeutic plan of the person affected by specialist pathologies, Identifying the health and nursing care needs of the person and the community and formulating the related care plans

CFU / HOURS: 20CFU / 600 internship hours
GENERAL OBJECTIVES 2nd YEAR
The student, at the end of the second year of the course, must be able to relate to the assisted person and his / her family, identify the needs underlying the physiological and pathological processes, even of people in critical conditions, respond to them by preparing an individualized care plan based on scientific evidence also in the specialist sectors, in the hospital and outpatient setting. He must ensure the correct application of diagnostic and therapeutic prescriptions, collaborate with the figures of the care team and make use, if necessary, of support figures.
2nd YEAR SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES
• Carry out an assessment for adult apparatuses and models and a complete general physical examination;
• Identify nursing diagnoses and collaborative problems in order of priority of intervention using the NANDA taxonomy
• Identify the physical, mental and social needs for help of people in various ages of life, in various social areas and respond to them in the context of a multi-professional action
• Provide correct and effective technical performance in application and in compliance with scientific principles
fundamentals of the profession and to adapt the services to the assisted person, in relation to the different pathologies, different operating sectors and at different ages;
• Promote effective educational relationships, aimed at disease prevention, maintenance and recovery of a satisfactory state of health;
• Knowing how to organize and maintain care relationships aimed at health education with the assisted person and family
• Identify the health and nursing care needs of the person and the community and formulate the related care plans;
• Knowing how to organize and manage emergency hospitalization;
• Knowing how to apply the nursing assessment for systems and models in adults and children
• Know the correct application of diagnostic-therapeutic prescriptions
• Indicate the criteria for evaluating the result of nursing care provided to the assisted person;
• Plan the main interventions related to clinical / care conditions knowing how to apply Nursing Diagnoses and collaborative problems
• Knowing how to indicate the criteria for evaluating the result of nursing care provided to the assisted person
• Knowing how to relate the results of laboratory and instrumental tests to the clinical pictures faced during the training course
PROGRAM / CONTENTS
During the internship experience, laboratory activities and individual tutoring provided for in the 2nd year, the student consolidates and improves the skills acquired in the first year, as well as experiments in acquiring the skills to provide nursing care in the adult person at medium and high complexity with both acute and chronic problems, in hospital and out-of-hospital settings. The student must know how to organize, perform and evaluate the following assistance activities with appropriate techniques:
• Preparation and assistance of the patient in endoscopic, radiological and cardiological diagnostic tests
• Patient assistance during: thoracentesis, paracentesis, spinal cord, arthrocentesis, pericardium centesis, bone biopsy, liver biopsy
• Assistance and monitoring of the patient during the transfusion of blood and blood products;
• Management of parenteral therapy, with reference to pharmacological dosages and calculations,
• Administration of therapy: intramuscular, subcutaneous, intradermal, intravenous; perform intravenous and capillary blood samples and for blood culture
• Perform simple dressings and collaborate in the care team in the implementation of complex dressings;
• Prepare the patient for general and specialist surgery and monitor the post-operative phase;
• Monitor the hydro-electrolyte balance
• Manage ostomies: colostomies, urostomies, cystostomies
• Manage central and peripheral venous accesses;
• Manage chemotherapy drugs and management of infusion pumps
• Manage the person with nutritional problems: enteral and parenteral nutrition, (insertion and management of the nasogastric tube, management of P.E.G.
• Manage the person with drainage;
• Perform electrocardiogram.
• Manage the person on hemodialysis and peritoneal dialysis treatment
• Detect and monitor peripheral oxygen saturation
