Course objectives

The student must demonstrate that he/she has acquired advanced knowledge of the physiopathology and complications of pregnancy, childbirth and puerperium, diagnose and manage the main high-risk maternal-fetal pathologies, apply advanced diagnostic techniques (ultrasound, Doppler, imaging), and collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team.

Prerequisites
Cultural: Knowledge of the ethical and deontological principles of medicine, particularly regarding the management of high-risk pregnancies and communication with patients. Ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, addressing complex issues collaboratively and respecting cultural and social differences. Curricular: Basic knowledge of human anatomy, physiology, and pathology, with particular focus on the systems and organs involved in pregnancy (e.g., cardiovascular, endocrine, renal systems). Fundamentals of medical sciences, such as microbiology, immunology, and pharmacology, to address infectious and metabolic complications during pregnancy. Competence in diagnostic imaging techniques (ultrasound, Doppler, advanced imaging) and fetal monitoring. Basic knowledge of genetics and fetal pathologies, including congenital malformations and genetic disorders.
