Cranial pathology Primary and secondary brain tumors, Cerebral hemorrhages, Hydrocephalus, Head trauma: definition, classification, epidemiology, pathophysiology, assessment scales, guidelines, preventive measures, polytrauma, timing, morbidity, mortality. Head trauma in pediatric age. Second impact syndrome. Symptoms: loss of consciousness, amnesia, headache, vomiting, disorientation, psychomotor agitation. Semiology: focal neurological deficits, Cushing's reflex, posture, coma. Radiological diagnosis with X-ray, CT and MRI. Surgical treatment: Surgical indication, surgical approaches, craniotomy, craniectomy, decompressive craniectomy, acrylic cranioplasty, autologous cranioplasty, PIC, CPP, tissue PO2 monitoring, liquor diversion. Tracheotomy. Surgical complications: double surgery, reoperation, cerebrospinal fluid fistulas. Medical and intensive care: drugs, ventilation, blood pressure, position, intracranial pressure, intrathoracic pressure, intraabdominal pressure and compartment syndrome, somatosensory or auditory evoked potentials (SSEP, BAEF), transcranial Doppler, SjO2, barbiturate coma, parenteral nutrition, enteral nutrition. Medical complications: seizures, infections, hyperthermia, decubitus, diabetes insipidus, fluid and electrolyte balance, hypopituitarism, pulmonary embolism. Prognosis: Rating scales, dizziness, memory, headache, cognitive status, Parkinsonian syndrome, focal neurological deficits, “minimal responder”, persistent or permanent vegetative state, locked-in syndrome, emerging independence, brain death and organ transplantation. Sequelae: Neuroradiological examinations, neurophysiological examinations, working capacity, rehabilitation. Spinal shock. Spinal trauma in pediatric age. Symptomatology and semeiology: assessment of complete or incomplete sensorimotor deficit and related syndromes. Radiological diagnosis with X-ray, CT and MRI: Surgical treatment: Surgical indication and contraindication. Anatomical landmarks. Laminectomy, laminotomy, laminoplasty, anterior and/or posterior vertebral stabilization. Bone fusion. Surgical complications: Infections. Dislocation/fixation breakage. Malpositioning. Liquor fistulas. Decubitus. Secondary instability. Late stenosis. Conservative treatment: Indication and contraindication. Clinical-radiological devices and checks. Complications.
