Biological and neurophysiological principles of consciousness.
Encephalopathies and coma: pathophysiology, diagnostic and prognostic assessment.
Brain death: diagnostic criteria and clinical implications.
EEG patterns in disorders of consciousness.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of the main neurophysiological techniques (EEG, evoked potentials).
Fundamentals of the anatomy and physiology of the central nervous system.

In addition, students may refer to the textbook “La Neurologia della Sapienza” (Società Editrice Esculapio, 2022) exclusively for the topics covered during the course.

Exam mode
Assessment through the questions on the topics covered during the lectures
To pass the exam, students must achieve a minimum grade of 18 out of 30.
A passing grade requires demonstrating a sufficient understanding and knowledge of the topics covered.
To obtain the highest grade of 30 with honors, students must demonstrate an excellent and comprehensive knowledge of all topics addressed during the course, showing the ability to integrate them in a logical and coherent manner.
