Course program
Contents:
- General pathology: etiology and pathogenesis; aspects of morbid phenomena; cell damage (regressive – expansive; reversible – irreversible); carcinogenesis: oncogenes and tumor suppressors.
- Genetic pathology: karyotype; molecular cytogenetic techniques (banding techniques of chromosome, FISH, SKY); DNA alterations: genomic, chromosomal and gene mutations; examples of diseases with genetic transmission: Fragile X syndrome, Duchenne dystrophy, Cystic fibrosis, Sickle cell anemia
- Molecular pathology: diagnostic molecular biology techniques (restriction enzymes, Southern blot, PCR, direct DNA sequencing, deep sequencing).
Prerequisites
Knowledge of the basic fundamentals of preparatory subjects in the health area, such as biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics.
