Drug classification: small molecules, biologics, ATMPs: safety, tolerability, efficacy, costs, and simplicity of pharmacological treatment; drug development; principles of pharmacodynamics, agonists, antagonists, positive and negative allosteric modulators; definition of habituation, tolerance, and dependence; ionotropic and metabotropic receptors; pharmacology of dopaminergic, noradrenergic, serotonergic, histaminergic, muscarinic, and nicotinic receptors; GABA-A receptors; principles of pharmacokinetics; drug absorption, distribution, metabolism, and elimination; antibiotic chemotherapy: antibiotic resistance, beta-lactam antibiotics, glycopeptides, and glycolipoids; aminoglycosides; tetracyclines; macrolides, other antibiotics that interact with the 50S subunit of the bacterial ribosome; sulfonamides; fluoroquinolones; polymyxins.
