Course program
The Bioethics course revolves around the following contents:
Principle of beneficence
Principle of non-maleficence
Principle of autonomy
Principle of justice
Right of mentally competent patients to refuse treatment
Refusal of treatment from legal guardians of mentally incompetent patients
Advance health care directives
Palliative care
Clinical research ethics
Medically assisted reproduction
Themes at the request of the students
Prerequisites
There are no specific requisite skills in order for students to fully comprehend the topics and subject matter relative to the Bioethics course.
Books
Students will be provided with digital booklets in Powerpoint format. Moreover, students may consider availing themselves of the following textbook as they see fit: Borsellino P., Bioetica tra “morali” e diritto. Raffaello Cortina Editore, Milano, 2018.
Teaching mode
In light of the need for a solid theoretical grounding, the Bioethics course shall be held via direct teaching and exemplifications, in an attempt to prompt students into constant interaction.
Frequency
Course attendance is mandatory.
Exam mode
The Bioethics exam consists of 16 multiple choice quizzes on all the topics covered by the program.
Examinations will take place at the end of the course.
