Course program
The course is structured around two integrated modules, awarding 4 ECTS credits in early modern history and 4 ECTS credits in contemporary history. Each lesson will center on a selected keyword, providing a structured pathway through some of the major events and issues that have shaped the early modern and contemporary eras. The course adopts a long-term perspective and encourages continuous dialogue between the approaches of early modern and contemporary history.Central themes include critical reflection on the tools and methodologies of historical inquiry, the use of periodization, source criticism, the relationship between space and time, and the interplay between history and memory. The course also explores possible pedagogical approaches to teaching historical disciplines. Particular attention will be devoted to key moments in Italian history from the mid-fifteenth century to the present, considered within the broader context of European and global developments.

Frequency
This is a laboratory-based course. Attendance is not mandatory but is strongly encouraged
Lesson mode
The course is organized into lectures and classroom discussions, including dedicated seminars. In the course of classes, special attention will be given to keyword analysis of a lexicon of early modern and contemporary history
