Microbial growth control
- Antibiotics and antibiotic resistance mechanisms.
- Infectious disease spread control: clinical and practice guidelines (good practice in hospital).
Host- microbe interaction
- Pathogenesis of bacterial infection.
- Bacterial virulence: adherence, invasion. Bacterial virulence factors: exsoenzymes and hemolysins. Immune evasion. Bacterial toxins: cytotoxins, enterotoxins, neurotoxins, superantigens.
- Cutaneous infections, focus on Stafilococcus - Streptococcus -Pseudomonas aeruginosa
Viruses
-viral structure and classification, viral replication and pathogenesis
Prerequisites
Requirements:
No strict prerequisites. Basic knowledge on molecular and cellular biology would be very helpful.
