Course objectives

At the end of the course the students will have to provide more deepened knowledge of subjects of specific interest to acquire more skills in their field of study. The students will have to know the demographic aspects, the prevention and treatment of oral and dental diseases, in the developmental, adult and geriatric age, even in the medically compromised patient or psycho-physical disabled, with specific deepening for the pathologies / preventive procedures and therapeutics pertaining to the dental hygienist's clinical activity. At the end of the course the students must be able to use the acquired knowledge in order to practice the complete range of the operative procedures of the professional profile, on the dentist's indication and in the context of the global treatment of the patient without producing additional risks for him.

Prerequisites
In order to understand the teaching content and to achieve the learning objectives, at the beginning of the planned elective teaching activities the student must have followed the lessons related to the teaching object of the EDA. first year students can choose ADE of the first year, second year students can choose EDA of the first and second year, the students of the third year can choose EDA of all three years of the course.
Books
For the exam, we suggest a theoretical deepening already from the beginning of the course attendance. For consultation and study, the recommended books are: LIMEBACK H. integrated preventive dentistry. Ed EMSI Lecture notes and scientific articles
Teaching mode
The teacher provides lectures with traditional methods with audiovisual aids and scheduling of lessons as on the website of the Dental Hygiene School.
Frequency
As reported in the art. 4 of the Regulation of the first level courses of the health professions for the institutional offices The Bureau organizes the ADE offer (also called optional or chosen by the student) and leads to the approval of the CCdS, defining the training objectives , the teaching methods, the number of students admitted, the timetable as well as the procedures for conducting the tests to verify the profit. The ADE can be implemented with lessons, seminars or interactive teaching in small groups. The student chooses the activities to be supported within a pool of activities offered annually by the CCdS. The CCdS appoints a manager of the ADE activities to which he entrusts the task of evaluating, with defined procedures, the achievement of the defined training objectives and therefore the verbalization of the acquired ECTS. Students are notified of the ADE calendar at the beginning of each academic year. The ADE is an integral part of the training curriculum, attendance is mandatory and can not be less than 75%.
Exam mode
The verification of the achievement of the defined training objectives and then the verbalization of the acquired ECTS takes place through an oral test .The evaluation consists of a suitability to be obtained also following the evaluation of the internship and attendance, active participation, reasoning skills and autonomous study.
Lesson mode
