THREE-DIMENSIONAL MODELING

Course objectives

Spatial design for the urban environment Training objectives: -the encouragement of analytical skills to the study of urban contexts as stratifications of “cultural matrial” and “physical material” in relation to the identity of places -capacity building of critical skills related to the relation and the impact that –in metropolitan, urban and periurban contexts- elapses between new artifacts and the value of genius Loci; -knowledge and use of theorical and operational methodologies aimed to the proposal for design concept, which need to be consisten with urban regeneration’s processes, seen in a social prospective; - know and use methods and tools that fall into the design sciences for the project of artefact systems for public space and for urban regeneration of services; - know and use materials, production technologies and new technologies _ smart Object, IoT Internet of Things _ with which to design interactive systems of artefacts. Knowledge and ability to understand At the end of the course the student will have acquired theoretical-critical and technical-design knowledge and skills for the development and complete elaboration of systems of artefacts, products, services and communication strategies, for the public space. It will also be able to understand the main logics that underlie the design within the spatial design, including the ability to identify the latent needs to be answered through the project. The knowledge and the ability to understand will be developed through the analysis the guided critical reading of contemporary projects already realized emblematic in the field of design for public space. This knowledge and understanding will also cover the most used representation techniques in this field, but also the study of the integration of communication devices of artefacts, intended as graphics, wayfinding, interfaces, etc.The verification of knowledge will be carried out through the design experimentation conducted during the course, through in itinere tests and the exam test itself. Ability to apply knowledge and understanding At the end of the course the student must demonstrate the mastery of an experimental and analytical-integrated design approach for the finalization of acquired knowledge and understanding skills, to solve complex problems related to the satisfaction of latent needs of infrastructures and services in contexts. contemporary and future urban areas. In particular, the student must be able to experiment with new types of artefacts, able to respond, in a flexible and adaptive logic, to the service functions and urban infrastructures required, also integrating new technologies, all in the wider culture of project able to make typological, technological and morphological synthesis. The student must be able to understand the different graphic representations of the projects studied and to develop appropriate tools for the proposed solutions. These capacities will be verified in the context of experimental and design activities, through the design of artefacts and / or artefact systems related to local realities and concrete urban contexts, aimed at developing the ability to approach individual and group issues to the applicative and professional problems. This ability to apply will be tested through guided exercises and induced through the development of one or more projects developed within the course, as well as through the exam test itself. Autonomy of judgment At the end of the course the student must demonstrate the ability to acquire knowledge and experience, to evaluate and re-elaborate them for the purpose of forming an autonomous and original judgment. In particular, the student must demonstrate skills in autonomous management and conscious planning of complex issues in the Spatial Design sector and its representation, with the aim of returning innovative, multi-purpose and sustainable solutions. The achievement of these critical and autonomous judgment skills will be acquired during the experimental and design activities, through the prefiguration of artefacts and / or artefact systems referring to territorial realities, urban contexts and concrete experiences. The verification of the knowledge will be carried out, moreover, through the exam test proper and through tests in itinere. Communication skills At the end of the course the student will have to demonstrate, in the face of the acquisition and the operational capacity with respect to the theoretical methodological, technical and design knowledge, typical of teaching, to be able to communicate them, in an effective and innovative way, within of spatial design project proposals, using advanced and multimedia communication tools in the field of representation and different forms of language, verbal and written-graph. The achievement of these skills will be acquired during the experimental and design activities of the Laboratory that ensure full possession of the specific expressive and illustrative skills of the plan and the project. The verification of communication skills will be carried out through the exam test in the strict sense, and through in itinere tests, in which the skill itself will be evaluated. Learning ability At the end of the course the student will have to demonstrate a high capacity for autonomous learning, which allows to continuously update and increase their knowledge and skills in the Culture of the Design Project and, more in general, Spatial Design, as well as in the specific area of its graphic and technical representation. The acquisition of these skills will take place through specific theoretical contributions given by the teacher during the course, aimed at expanding the skills framework to access innovative methodologies, tools and applications and through constant participation in the laboratory's experimental and design activities, dialectical field verification of acquired knowledge, within concrete design experiences. The assessment of skills will take place, above all, through the exam test, structured so as to highlight the autonomy in organizing their own learning.
