Course program
In the first part of the course it will be about theresearch methods in clinical psychology, psychometrics and the validity of the measures will also be treated, with particular reference to the meta-analysis methodology and evidenced based psychology.
In the intermediate part of the course will be about health psychology: we will discuss topics such as the adherence to pharmacological treatment, the persuing of healthy life styles strarting from early develomental stages (particular attention will be given to cognitve and emotional development) to older ages (particular attention will be given to normal and pathological aging). The issue of cronical pain and placebo and nocebo effects will be deepened through the presentation of empirical studies. Also , we will deal with the topic of work-related stress and burn-out (with particular reference to the figure of the pharmacist and the caregivers)
In the final part of the course the main mental disorders and psychotherapeutic approaches will be introduced, with particular attention to evidence-based approaches.

Books
The reference teaching material consists of the collection of slides, articles and texts published in the e-learning course.
For further study, students may refer to the textbook:"Psicologia Clinica" Durand, Barlow e Hofmann
Frequency
To take the course exam, it is necessary to attend at least 60% of the classes.
Students who meet this attendance requirement can prepare for the exam by studying only the slides provided by the instructor.
Students who attend at least 40% of the classes may still take the exam, but must complete an additional part of the program consisting of Chapters 1, 2, 4, 6, and 7 from the textbook Clinical Psychology by Durand, Barlow, and Hofmann.
ONLY AND EXCLUSIVELY students enrolled in Engineering programs, who are not required to attend classes as part of their degree program, may take the exam without attending.
In this case, the exam will cover Chapters 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 10, and 12 from Clinical Psychology by Durand, Barlow, and Hofmann.
(In this case, the slides available on Moodle will NOT be considered study material.)
Exam mode
The exam is written with 26 multiple choice questions and 2 open questions related to teaching materials and power-point presentations made available through e-learning.
The written test lasts about 1 hour and aims to assess the knowledge of the theories and the most relevant topics of clinical psychology with particular reference to the applicative aspects in the health field.
The honors will be awarded to students who achieve a score above 30.
Lesson mode
n addition to the explanation of key concepts, explanatory videos and practical exercises will be used to foster students’ critical thinking and understanding.
