Course objectives
By the end of the course the student must -know the principal diseases of the respiratory and cardiovascular apparatus, with information about surgical operation and knowledge of the most common surgical techniques -be aware of the semeiological manoeuvres carried out aimed towards diagnosis and therapeutic address.

Course program
Common manifestations of lung diseases, Respiratory failure, principles of physiology and respiratory physiopathology including interpretation of pulmonary function tests and blood gas analysis, obstructive diseases, interstitial diseases, infectious diseases with special focus to pneumonia , disorders of pulmonary circulation, embolism and chronic pulmonary heart, bronchiectasis, pneumoconiosis, ARDS, Pleural diseases, emphysema.
Patient physical examination
Prerequisites
Student must possess the basic knowledge of respiratory system's anatomy, physiology and physiopathology , he must also be aware of the main mechanisms of inflammation and immunity involved in lung diseases, including cells and molecules role.
He must own the main notions of respiratory tract signs and symptoms

Lectures on the topics of the program
Activities at the patient's bed: patients medical history, physical examination, interpretation of lab tests , diagnostic imaging and basics of pneumological therapies
Analysis of main methods of evaluation of respiratory patients
Exam mode
Candidate will undergo an oral examination with the aim of understanding the degree of knowledge and the ability to work on specific clinical cases
