PHYSICS

Course objectives

Aim of the course is to bring the student to the comprehension of the meaning of the scientific method, through the description of the basic principles and physics laws in the nature. In particular the course, through the knowledge of classic mechanics and thermodynamics aims at providing the students the main tools necessary for the solution of problems of simple and intermediate complexity. Students should be able to analyse problems concerning simple systems (material point) and more complex systems like the rigid body and the thermodynamic transformations. They should be able to apply the basic laws of physics, the general principles of conservation and their consequences. The level of comprehension is evaluated through a written and an oral examination.
