MATHEMATICAL ANALYSIS II

Course objectives

The course is aimed at the acquisition and use of some important concepts and tools of Mathematical Analysis in real multi-dimensional spaces. The concepts and operations of limit, continuity, derivative, differential and integral are extended in this context to multidimensional spaces. The concepts of curve, curvilinear integrals, differential forms and some methods of constrained minimization are introduced. The basic notions related to sequences and series of functions are introduced. The course requires, in addition to the acquisition of theoretical tools, also the ability to operate on concrete problems that involve the use of such tools. The student must acquire the ability to perform limit, derivative, differential and integral operations in real multidimensional spaces. These operations must be carried out in a critical and constructive way. At the same time, a thorough knowledge of the theoretical tools used is required. The course aims in particular to favor the approach to the study of new mathematical problems and to stimulate the achievement of a maturity in the concrete use of Mathematical Analysis in the field of Engineering.
