Sustainable Building Engineer
Functions
Graduates of this Programme are intermediate-level professionals capable of working in various areas of the building sector. They contribute to and collaborate in the planning, design and implementation of interventions related to the organisation and transformation of the territory, at different operational scales.
Graduates will be able to understand the morphological, typological, structural and technological characteristics of interventions aimed at transforming, protecting and safeguarding the territory, as well as those concerning the construction, transformation and conservation of buildings in their material and construction components. This understanding is always considered in relation to the environmental, social, economic, legal and production context in which such interventions take place.
Skills
Graduates acquire skills related to all operations involved in surveying the morphological and physical characteristics of the environment, urbanised areas and building structures. They gain the ability to identify, plan and assess interventions on the territory aimed at settlement development; to plan and manage construction processes in their various components; and to oversee the management, economic evaluation and technical and administrative supervision of construction activities, including safety-related procedures. Graduates are also prepared to manage industrial production processes of construction components and systems, as well as the maintenance of buildings, their integration with services and the related safety aspects.
Career Opportunities
Graduates may apply their competences within public and private bodies and companies, engineering firms, industries in the building and environmental sectors, and construction companies. They may also work as independent professionals or consultants.
The Programme also prepares students for admission to various Master’s Degree Programmes and, in particular, to the Master’s Degree Programme in Environmental and Sustainable Building Engineering, which provides more specific and in-depth competences in the disciplinary areas related to interventions on the territory, both for its transformation and for its protection.
