Classics Degree Programme
Class: L-10
(a) The Degree Programme is structured into a single curriculum.
(b) The courses that make up the study paths, along with the relevant scientific and disciplinary areas, are published in the Programme description, as are any divisions into modules.
(c) The courses and the credits assigned to them are also published in the Programme description. This Degree Programme has no prerequisites.
(d) The elective activities chosen by the student and the corresponding number of credits are published in the Programme description.
(e) Procedures for transferring from other degree programmes are governed by the university’s student regulations for the current academic year.
(f) The teaching method is conventional. Depending on the subject, assessment methods may consist of oral and/or written exams and/or other forms of assessment.
(g) The Degree Programme appoints one or more instructors responsible for assessing foreign language proficiency. The relevant credits are listed in the curriculum.
(h) The Degree Programme appoints one or more professors responsible for assessing other skills. The relevant credits are listed in the curriculum.
(i) The Degree Programme appoints one or more professors responsible for evaluating the outcomes of internships, traineeships, or periods of study abroad. The relevant credits are listed in the curriculum.
(j) Further information on student obligations can be found in the Charter of Rights and Duties of Students, which is available at the following address: https://www.uniroma1.it/it/documento/cartadei-diritti-e-dei-doveri-delle
(k) The Degree Programme provides conventional attendance methods. It also provides attendance methods for part-time students, since the course calendar and syllabus set out in the curriculum essentially remain unchanged from one year to the next.
(l) Credits earned in other degree programmes at Sapienza or other universities will be recognised by this Degree Programme, provided they align with the curriculum and have been assessed.
(m) Tutoring methods are designed to support and guide students throughout their studies. They actively engage students in the learning process and remove obstacles to successfully completing the course. This is achieved by providing initiatives tailored to each student’s individual needs and aptitudes. Tutoring services collaborate with bodies that support the right to education and student representatives. They contribute to students’ cultural development and participation in university activities (Law 341/1990, Article 13).
(n) This Degree Programme stipulates that courses worth at least 90 credits are taught by tenured professors or researchers in the relevant scientific fields, either at this university or at others, based on specific agreements between the universities involved. No professor or researcher has been counted more than twice in total for courses taught at their own university and at others. To consult the list of professors, please refer to the Programme schedule.
(o) To remediate the OFA, a specific support course is provided to prepare students for the relevant OFA exam. Passing this exam certifies the achievement of specific skills related to text comprehension and knowledge of the English language.
The OFA requirement is also considered fulfilled by passing one or more of the first-year curricular exams indicated by the teaching structures.
Failure to fulfil the OFA requirements will result in the inability to take exams in subsequent years.
Full details of the registration procedures and deadlines, test methods and content, and OFA recovery and passing procedures can be found in the announcement published in the ‘Enroll’ section of the Degree Programme webpage: https://corsidilaurea.uniroma1.it. Further information can be found in the University’s student regulations, which are available at: www.uniroma1.it/it/pagina/regolamento-studenti.
