Certamen Latinum "Nova Humanitas" – 8th Edition
Results of the Judging Committee and Award Ceremony
Please be advised that the Judging Committee for the 8th edition of the Certamen Latinum "Nova Humanitas", chaired by Prof. Francesco Ursini, has completed the evaluation of the submitted works.
The official minutes of the Committee's meeting are attached to this notice for consultation.
The results and honorable mentions awarded are structured as follows:
- Joint First Place (Ex Aequo): Awarded to the submissions by E. B. (Sapienza University of Rome) and G. G. (Scuola Normale Superiore);
- Third Place: Awarded to the submission by G. B. (University of Genoa);
- Honorable Mention: Awarded equally to the remaining entries, both in competition (B. C., B. D., T. D., D. M., T. R., A. S.) and out of competition (M. Z.).
The Committee expresses its warm and general appreciation to all participants for the high quality, originality, and dedication demonstrated.
Award Ceremony
The award ceremony will take place on Friday, November 20, 2026, at 4:00 PM at the Aula Odeion of the Museum of Classical Art – Department of Antiquities, Sapienza University of Rome.
All participants are cordially invited to attend.
IMPORTANT NOTICE – Checking the Class Timetable
Students are hereby informed that the class timetables for the 2026/2027 academic year published in the Degree Programme Catalogue (imported from the GOMP system) contain system discrepancies and should not be considered reliable. These pages may contain incorrect information, timetable clashes, or courses belonging to different academic years and curricula.
To avoid misunderstandings and problems with attendance, students are kindly requested to check the timetables by keeping the Programme of Study at hand and consulting each lecturer’s webpage directly.
If information about classes is not available on the lecturer’s personal webpage, please contact the Academic Office.
Latin Tutoring Services and Online Helpdesk
Students are hereby informed that the Latin Tutoring Service is currently active. Activities will continue under the current schedule until the end of September (the new tutoring cycle will begin in October).
To provide ongoing support, a fixed Online Helpdesk is now available weekly during the following days and times:
- Tuesday: 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM
- Friday: 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM

Students are hereby informed that during the Department Council meeting on July 20th (item no. 8 on the agenda), the new Departmental Student Representatives were appointed.
The Representatives act as a direct channel of support and communication for all students within the Department, aiming to gather feedback, proposals, and needs, as well as to facilitate communication with the Degree Programmes and Departmental Bodies.

If you need to fulfill your Additional Learning Requirements (OFA - Obblighi Formativi Aggiuntivi), please carefully read the guidelines and procedures on the dedicated university webpage: Additional Learning Requirements - OFA.
Exam Dates (A.Y. 2026/2027)
If you choose to fulfill your OFA requirement by taking the Faculty test, you can register for one of the following sessions:
- September 9, 2026 (10:00 AM - 12:00 PM) – Classroom XXII
- January 11, 2027 (10:00 AM - 12:00 PM) – Classroom IV
- March 1, 2027 (10:00 AM - 12:00 PM) – Classroom IV
- June 7, 2027 (10:00 AM - 12:00 PM) – Classroom IV
- September 9, 2027 (10:00 AM - 12:00 PM) – Classroom Chabod

Before taking the exam, we highly recommend practicing on the SUL (Scuola e Università per Lettere) self-assessment platform, designed to help you strengthen your Italian language skills.

Students in Scienze Archeologiche (L-1) and Lettere Classiche (L-10) who must register the AAF1185 exams FOR KNOWLEDGE OF AT LEAST ONE FOREIGN LANGUAGE in the following languages: English, German, and French, can contact their individual instructor for registration if they have a language certificate (Cambridge B2, Delf, and similar).
Those without a certificate should contact Professor Barni at the CLA, where they can take a course for each of these languages and then take the relevant proficiency test.
