MODERN AND CONTEMPORARY ITALIAN LITERATURE II A

Course objectives

The main objectives are the knowledge of the evolution of Italian literary history in the last two centuries; an adequate knowledge of the development of literary genres, trends and languages of the last decades; the acquisition, also through targeted exercises, of the methodological tools that allow the comprehension and analysis of narrative and poetic texts, carried out autonomously by the students; the development of a good ability to analyze literary communication and the interaction between literary text and the surrounding society, between the author and the public. The main secondary objectives are: a further development, compared to the skills acquired in secondary school, of an oral and written expression capacity appropriate to the topic under discussion; the acquisition and mastery of an appropriate vocabulary; the development of interdisciplinary skills, mostly in relation to the visual arts and new languages.

Attendance is optional, although recommended.
Exam mode
The examination is ORAL. The knowledge and skills required will be tested by means of an open written examination. The preparation will be considered adequate: 1) if the student demonstrates the ability to expound using relevant terminology; 2) if the student demonstrates an understanding of the issues addressed in the course and is able to apply them autonomously to the reflection on the works proposed, showing that he/she has been able to elaborate on the contents of the course.
Lesson mode
The course will consist of lectures with discussion.
