Course objectives

General aims: The course aims to outline the political and institutional history of China from the 1911 revolution until the end of the Cultural revolution in 1969. Moreover it will focus on some political and institutional aspects of the period considered. Specific aims: a knowledge of the political, social and cultural dynamics of the period under study; the ability to contextualize single events within a broader framework of historical dynamics; the ability to deal with critical and interpretative literature on the basis of notions taught by the teacher; the ability to discuss or to submit papers about the period under study, also on the basis of oral and written exercises.
