Course program
The course explores the topic of food in antiquity through the application of protocols based on experimental archaeology. It examines not only its fundamental role in survival, but also its cultural, symbolic, and ritual significance. Students will develop, either individually or in groups, working hypotheses related to food, starting from archaeological case studies. Both containers and their contents will be replicated and documented, with results discussed in terms of their interpretative value. Finally, the research data will be reworked with a view to public dissemination. Experimental archaeology, especially in its educational dimension, allows for the replication of both tangible and intangible aspects of the past, making it a powerful tool for both research and the dissemination of historical knowledge.
