NEUROPSYCHIATRY OF THE CHILDHOOD AND ADOLESCENCE

Course objectives

Skills to be acquired Students should know the history of child neuropsychiatry, have knowledge of the epidemiology and of the etiopathogenesis of the main developmental neuropsychiatric diseases, be able to discuss the symptoms and the evolution of disturbances in different age groups. They should acquire skills for the diagnosis of developmental neuropsychiatric disorders and for the methodological bases for its preventive and clinical, diagnostic and psychotherapeutic interventions. Learning outcomes Students completing the course will learn about the main stages of typical neuro-psycho-motor development of the child and will have the tools to perform a nosographic framework in Child Neuropsychiatry in order to use it in the clinical practice. They will be able to identify the neurological and psychological consequences of developmental neuropsychiatric disorders and to recognize the alterations of the neurobehavioral development. Students will have the tools to implement a clinical evaluation and a psychological intervention in the major neuropsychiatric disorders of childhood.
