Course program
As part of the educational objectives of the Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, this course aims to provide students with basic knowledge of general pedagogy and social pedagogy, with particular emphasis on the study of educational and training processes that characterise the current complexity of social phenomena. More specifically, the lessons will cover the main topics related to general pedagogy (in relation to educational sciences), with particular reference to the nature, structure, and pragmatic logic of pedagogical knowledge, terminology, key concepts, theories, reference models, and contexts. Students will also learn how general pedagogy has evolved over time and its current fields of study, interests, and interventions. The course also aims to provide a framework for guidelines and critical issues. Its approaches have been developed in social pedagogy, with a view to creating a circular relationship between theoretical reflection and practice. By combining and integrating theoretical reflection and empirical research, the course also aims to promote the construction and/or development of the skills necessary to critically address the main educational emergencies involving contemporary man in various social contexts. Finally, the course aims to promote the development of students' metacognitive, listening, and intra- and interpersonal communication skills, which are fundamental in professional relationships in the socio-educational field. To contribute to developing specific skills to prevent and resolve hardship situations for groups, communities, families, and individuals, the course aims to provide students with basic knowledge of critical-emancipatory pedagogy. With this in mind, part of the course will be specifically dedicated to the pedagogical-educational work of Danilo Dolci.

For students of other degree programs, attendance at lectures is not compulsory but is strongly recommended.
Exam mode
The examination will be in written mode, will focus on the topics covered in class and found in the study texts. The examination will consist of three multiple-choice questions (each worth two points - 2/30) and three questions with closed stimulus and open answer (each of the fly of eight points - 8/30). To pass the exam, it is necessary to obtain a grade of not less than 18/30. The examination test will last three hours. In evaluating the test, the following general indexes of judgment will be taken into account overall: a) for questions with multiple-choice answers, the accuracy of the answer will be taken into account; b) for open-ended questions, on the other hand, the mastery and conceptual organization of the thematic content, the thematic breadth and organicity of the discussion, the specialized lexical correctness, the level of in-depth study and ability to make theoretical connections, the ability to critically rework knowledge, and the ability to infer theoretical knowledge of the operational plan in a professional context will be taken into account. The choice of written test is related to the expected learning outcomes, especially regarding the ability to make theoretical connections (including in interdisciplinary terms) and critically rework knowledge. There are no intermediate tests.
Lesson mode
Consistent with the educational objectives of the General Pedagogy teaching, there will be face-to-face lectures, seminar-type meetings (including with scholars in the field), individual and group in-depth study itineraries, and presentation of materials by students.
