Presentation
The three-year program is designed to train graduates in the field of conservation and restoration of cultural heritage, capable of performing scientific diagnostic investigations aimed at understanding the properties and characteristics of materials used in cultural heritage, in order to ensure their protection and conservation.
Specifically, graduates will acquire the skills to:
- perform scientific investigations to identify the causes and mechanisms of deterioration of cultural heritage;
- analyze and evaluate results and develop models useful for identifying the most appropriate conservation and restoration actions;
- perform diagnostics before, during, and after conservation interventions;
- work in teams to operate with defined degrees of autonomy and to integrate readily into work environments;
- work in institutions responsible for the management and maintenance of cultural heritage and in private professional organizations operating in the field of conservation restoration and environmental recovery.
The multidisciplinary nature of activities in the Cultural Heritage sector requires a solid basic scientific background, a good command of methods and techniques for investigation and data interpretation, and a liberal arts education to enhance knowledge in general disciplines. Internships at university scientific laboratories or at public and private organizations operating in the sector complete the training.
