SPANISH LANGUAGE AND COMMUNICATION

Course objectives

The course aims to provide students with general knowledge of the Spanish language and the Spanish and Spanish-American contexts in which the language is used. Specifically: a) the language laboratory, held by the Expert Linguistic Collaborators, aims to develop the 4 basic skills: production and written and oral comprehension definable in terms of threshold values and intends to introduce students to the fundamental aspects of the Spanish language system. b) The monographic course, taught by the principal lecturer, aims to stimulate the ability to apply linguistic knowledge to the analysis of the communicative, sociolinguistic and historical-cultural contexts of Spanish-speaking countries. These topics will be introduced through a variety of materials, ora, written and digital documents in the FL to strengthen communication skills and stimulate analytical ones. Exchange and active participation will also be favored through moments of confrontation with external guests.

Prerequisites
A B1 level in the Spanish language is required to take the exam. The level is tested in the following ways: - native of a Spanish-speaking country with at least one course of study in the country of origin - higher bachiller diploma (double qualification) - DELE, SIELE or CELU at least B1 level obtained from 2023 onwards - Passed the level test administered as part of the lectureship course

Exam mode
Written exam Students will have 35 minutes to answer 32 multiple-choice questions related to the study materials indicated in the programme, corresponding to 6 and 9 ECTS credits. The exam will be administered via the Moodle platform, and students must answer 60% of the questions correctly to obtain a passing grade. An ongoing assessment will be held at the end of the course for attending students only. Professor reserves the right to draw up a list of students admitted to the exam based on attendance records.
Lesson mode
The course includes lectures, aimed at providing basic knowledge of the fundamental topics of Spanish and Hispano-American language and culture, exercises and laboratories aimed at achieving communicative competence, thematic in-depth seminars with external guests, through which to exercise the analytical skills on sociolinguistic and historico-cultural phenomena. Telematic tools will also be used to practice language in autonomous learning spaces.
