Only for Global Humanities students --- The Philosophy in Global Perspective exam is worth 12 credits, which are the sum of the exams given by Prof. Simone Pollo and Prof. Riccarda Suitner. Following the rescheduling of the course by prof. Pollo in the 2nd term, the exam with prof. Suitner is preliminary to the exam by prof. Pollo, who will register the mark (one for both exams).

Riccarda Suitner ha conseguito la Laurea magistrale nel 2011 all'Università Sapienza, dopo aver studiato anche un anno presso l'Università di Colonia (programma Erasmus). Si è addottorata nel 2014 all'Università di Erfurt con una borsa di studio della German National Merit Foundation. Prima del dottorato è stata anche borsista presso il Warburg Institute, il Forschungszentrum Gotha für kultur- und sozialwissenschaftliche Studien e il Max Planck Institute for the History of Science. Dal 2014 è stata ricercatrice e docente presso l'Università di Erfurt e il Deutsches Historisches Institut, docente a contratto presso l'Università di Giessen, Fellow presso il Descartes Center dell’Università di Utrecht, Privatdozentin alla Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität di Monaco. Ha vinto una Fellowship presso il Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin e l'Heisenberg-Programm della Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (entrambe non avviate per via dell'inizio della posizione a Roma). Dal 2025 è ricercatrice con tenure-track presso il Dipartimento SARAS della Sapienza.
Si occupa di storia della filosofia, storia intellettuale e religiosa dal Cinquecento al Settecento, con particolare riferimento all’Illuminismo e ai legami tra Umanesimo e Riforma. Tra le sue pubblicazioni, le monografie Die philosophischen Totengespräche der Frühaufklärung (Felix Meiner, 2016; trad. ingl. The Dialogues of the Dead of the Early German Enlightenment, Brill 2022, trad. it. I dialoghi dei morti del primo Illuminismo tedesco, ETS 2021), che ha ricevuto nel 2019 il German Humanities Traslation Prize, e Venice and the Radical Reformation (Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht 2024; Premio Desiderio Pirovano 2024). Si è occupata anche di dibattiti filosofici settecenteschi di ambito demonologico, su cui ha curato il volume Gli illuministi e i demoni (Edizioni di Storia e Letteratura 2019). Tra il 2017 e il 2018 è stata coordinatrice scientifica del gruppo di ricerca internazionale, basato al Max Weber Kolleg dell’Università di Erfurt, Religious Individualisation in Historical Perspective, per cui ha curato, assieme a M. Mulsow e J. Rüpke, l’omonimo volume (De Gruyter 2020).
Possiede una Habilitation tedesca e le ASN (II fascia) in Storia della filosofia e in Storia moderna. È membro del Centro Tedesco di Studi Veneziani, della International Society for Intellectual History, della Società Italiana di Storia della Filosofia e socia corrispondente dell’Accademia degli Agiati. Fa parte dei gruppi di ricerca Protestantism as a Minority Religion (Cambridge) e Natural Law 1625-1850 (Università di Francoforte, Erfurt e Halle-Wittenberg).

Riccarda Suitner earned her master's degree in 2011 from Sapienza University, after also studying for a year at the University of Cologne (Erasmus program). She earned her doctorate in 2014 from the University of Erfurt with a scholarship from the German National Merit Foundation. Before her PhD, she also held fellowships at the Warburg Institute, the Gotha Research Center, and the Max Planck Institute for the History of Science. Since 2014, she has been a researcher and lecturer at the University of Erfurt and the German Historical Institute, an adjunct professor at the University of Giessen, a fellow at the Descartes Center at Utrecht University, and a Privatdozentin at Ludwig-Maximilians-University of Munich. Since 2025, she has been an Assistant Professor with tenure-track at the SARAS Department of Sapienza University. She was granted a Fellowship at the Wissenschaftskolleg zu Berlin and the Heisenberg Programme of the DFG (both declined to take up the position in Rome).
Her research focuses on the history of philosophy, intellectual and religious history from the 16th to the 18th century, with a particular focus on the Enlightenment and the links between Humanism and the Reformation. Her publications include the monographs Die philosophischen Totengespräche der Frühaufklärung (Felix Meiner, 2016; Eng. trans. The Dialogues of the Dead of the Early German Enlightenment, Brill 2022; It. trans. I dialoghi dei morti del primo Illuminismo tedesco, ETS 2021), which received in 2019 the German Humanities Translation Prize, and Venice and the Radical Reformation (Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht 2024; Desiderio Pirovano Prize 2024). She also dealt with 18-century demonological debates, on which she edited the volume Gli illuministi e i demoni (Edizioni di Storia e Letteratura 2019). Between 2017 and 2018, she was the scientific coordinator of the international research group, based at the Max Weber Kolleg of the University of Erfurt, entitled Religious Individualization in Historical Perspective, for which she edited, together with M. Mulsow and J. Rüpke, the volume of the same name (De Gruyter 2020).
She holds a German and two Italian Habilitations (History of Philosophy, Early Modern History). She is a member of the Deutsches Studienzentrum in Venedig, the International Society for Intellectual History, the Italian Society for the History of Philosophy, and a corresponding member of the Accademia degli Agiati. She is part of the research groups Protestantism as a Minority Religion (Cambridge) and Natural Law 1625-1850 (Universities of Frankfurt, Erfurt, and Halle-Wittenberg).
