Full Professor of History of medicine and Bioethics, Faculty of Pharmacy and Medicine, Sapienza-University of Rome, Dept. of Sciences and Medical-Surgical Biotechnology. She teaches History of medicine and Bioethics in Medical degree courses of Sapienza University of Rome and in many other professional degree courses (first and second level/Bachelor Degrees in Medical professions), Faculties of Medicine and Odontoiatry, Pharmacy and Medicine and Medicine and Psycology of the same University. 2010-2016 President of the Nursing university Course in Viterbo. 2018, President of MED/02 Collegium. 2010- Editor of the International Journal of History of medicine and Medical Humanities. 2019 -President SISUMEd, Italian Society for the MH. Since 2013-2014 she is part of the Doctoral College- PhD in Medicine and Human Sciences- University of Insubria. She has been PI for funded scientific national projects since 2005. Main Research Topics: Historical analysis of ancient gynaecology, evolution of the concept of female body, female physiology and pathology in ancient Greek and Roman medical and non medical texts; Trasmission of medical texts and ideas from ancient world to the Modern Age; longstanding medical paradigms in medico-philosophical contexts; Myth and medicine; Historical analysis of the medical profession and its evolution; Historical origins of medical ethics and deontology; Objective fonts of medical knowledge: Giovan Battista Morgagni, critical edition of the his legal expertises in Biblioteca Comunale di Forlì. Historical analysis of the origins of forensic medicine; Material sources of medical knowledge: archeological remains, ex-voto, medical Greek and Roman instrumentaria, identification and preservation; Historical analysis of the concept of pediatric disease, with particular attention to the history of psychic, intellectual and neurological disability of the child.
