Curriculum
Ioannis Chatzigiannakis holds a PhD from the University of Patras (2003) and a BEng from the University of Kent (1997) in Computer Systems Engineering. In 2014 joined Sapienza University of Rome as an Associate Professor at the Department of Computer, Control and Management Engineering and since 2024 he is a Full Professor. Before joining Sapienza University of Rome, he was an assistant professor at the University of Patras, and he was a visiting research fellow at the University of Liverpool and visiting professor at the University of Lübeck and the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. His research interests are concentrated in the areas of design, analysis and experimentation of distributed algorithms and services combining the Internet of Things, Big Data analytics and Distributed & Edge computing. He has published more than 145 papers in international journals and conferences supported by ACM/IEEE/EATCS in collaboration with more than 240 researchers from around the world. He has participated in more than 30 research projects funded from European or National funds following a competitive process. He is teaching courses at three faculties: Faculty of Information Engineering, Faculty of Architecture and Faculty of Medicine with strong emphasis on entrepreneurial development of innovative systems. He is a member of the Steering Committee of the Interdepartmental Center “Sapienza Design Research”. He is a senior member of IEEE and ACM. He is a member of EATCS.
