Metabolism: general concepts, the meaning of ATP, direct and oxidative phosphorylation. Main pathways of glucose (glycolysis, Krebs cycle), lipid (Beta oxidation) and protein metabolism.
Prerequisites
Basic knowledge of general and organic chemistry: it's important to have a solid understanding of the structure of atoms, chemical laws, and chemical nomenclature. Additionally, a good understanding of organic chemistry is essential for comprehending bio-chemical reactions and the properties of biomolecules.

WRITTEN TEST, including both multiple-choice and open-ended questions
The test will be structured to include both multiple-choice questions and open-ended questions. Multiple-choice questions may be used to assess knowledge of key concepts and the ability to apply specific information, while open-ended questions may require detailed explanations of concepts or problem-solving.
The test will consist of 20 multiple-choice questions and two open-ended questions. The questions will be based on the outlined syllabus, also refer to the Example Questions section. Test duration will be approximately 30 minute.
Lesson mode
Frontal teaching will consist of individual lessons lasting 2 hours (including a short break), from October to December.
During the frontal lessons, students will be guided through the slides interactively, encouraging participation, answering questions, and stimulating discussion. Slides can be a valuable support tool to facilitate understanding and consolidate students' learning. The slides will always be provided to the students before the lesson.
During the biochemistry course for nursing, frontal teaching will be structured to offer theoretical lessons. The frontal lessons will provide a solid knowledge base on the fundamental concepts of biochemistry, with a particular emphasis on clinical applications relevant to medical practice. Topics will be presented clearly and accessibly, using concrete examples and clinical cases to facilitate understanding. Classroom interaction will be encouraged, offering students the opportunity to ask questions, discuss topics, and deepen understanding through dialogue with the teacher and classmates.
