Course program
Main diagnostic methodologies in immunological and microbiological field including mononuclear cell separation from peripheral blood and functional assays, diagnostic application of monoclonal antibodies (direct and indirect immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, microscopy, western blot, ELISA), methodologies for diagnosis of immunodeficiencies, autoimmune diseases and allergies, molecular methodologies (nucleic acid extraction, RT-PCR and real time PCR) culture techniques and identification of micro-organisms. Students will be able to critically apply their theoretical knowledges, learn laboratory safety rules and improve their operational skills.
Prerequisites
No specific prerequisites are required. However, basic notions of biochemistry, molecular and cellular biology, anatomy and immunology are required for the understanding of the course contents and the achievement of the learning objectives.
