Course program
General pathology is concerned with the mechanisms underlying disease processes, as manifested by morphologic (gross, cellular, and ultrastructural), physiologic, and biochemical changes. The main topics covered are cellular degeneration, inflammation, tissue repair, chemical and physical injury and a brief introduction to neoplasia. Introduction to neuropathology.
Specific points: Cell Injury and Death, Cellular Adaptation, Acute and Chronic Inflammation, Tissue Repair - Cell Regeneration, Fibrosis, Wound Healing. - Disorders of the Immune System. Pathology of Tumors.
Prerequisites
The student must have acquired the preliminary knowledge, a good study methodology and adequate self-assessment skills.
