Course program
Contents: 1. The nursing history: the gastroenterological patient and the clinical anatomy of the digestive tract. Upper gastrointestinal symptoms (esophageal) dysphagia, chest pain, heartburn, regurgitation and gastro-esophageal reflux disease (2 hours). 2) Upper gastrointestinal symptoms (stomach): functional and organic dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting and acid-related disorders (2 hours). 3) Lower gastrointestinal symptoms: alterations of bowel habits (diarrhea and constipation) and the main diseases associated with them: malabsorption, infectious diseases, inflammatory diseases, diverticular disease (2 hours). 4) Symptoms and signs from to the liver, biliary tract and pancreas: jaundice, cholestasis and the main syndromes associated with them. The patient with liver cirrhosis and the main complications. The paracentesis (2 hours). 5) Gastrointestinal bleeding: hematemesis, hematochezia and melaena and the main causes of gastrointestinal bleeding (2 hours). 6) Tests and diagnostic procedures in gastroenterology: endoscopy, radiology, ultrasound, functional studies (manometry, breath tests, pH-metry/impedance- 24hours pH-metry) (2 hours).
