Course program
At the end of the third year of internship, the student will be able to:
- perform, under the supervision of the midwife tutor, the admission and care of pregnant women in the obstetric/gynecological emergency room
- independently perform obstetric examinations at different stages of pregnancy
- perform and manage cardiotocography and recognize its alarm and pathological patterns
- administer, under the supervision of the midwife tutor, pharmacological therapy for women attending the obstetric/gynecological emergency room, including in the emergency setting
- apply and understand protocols, procedures, clinical-care guidelines, and
clinical-care documentation in the obstetric/gynecological emergency room, including in the emergency setting
- perform, under the supervision of the midwife tutor, the admission and care of pregnant women in the labor/delivery unit Independently perform obstetric examinations during the various stages of labor/delivery
- Prepare, administer, evaluate, and document drug therapy for the pregnant woman
- Use protocols, procedures, clinical-care guidelines, and clinical-care documentation during labor/delivery/postpartum
- Perform, under the supervision of the midwife-in-charge, obstetric care during labor and delivery of low-risk pregnant women and healthy newborns
- Know and understand obstetric care in the case of operative vaginal delivery (application of obstetric vacuum extractor)
- Know and understand care in major obstetric emergencies/urgencies
- Perform, under the supervision of the midwife-in-charge, postpartum and puerperium care
- Perform, under the supervision of the midwife-in-charge, neonatal examinations to assess the well-being of the newborn at birth
- Supporting the mother-newborn dyad in all aspects of care, in collaboration with dedicated staff, including promoting the active involvement of the partner.
- Collaborating with staff in preparing the operating room.
- Collaborating with staff in preparing and providing pre- and post-operative care for the mother for various surgical procedures.
- Familiarizing with the instruments and setting up the operating field and instruments for major surgical procedures, including day surgery.
- Performing sterile dressing for surgical procedures.
- Collaborating with the anesthesiologist during the induction of epidural and subarachnoid analgesia and during induction/awakening from general anesthesia.
- Understanding and describing the surgical timeframes for major surgical procedures.
- Understanding, promoting, and supporting the methodology for conducting courses on childbirth and parenting.
- Know and understand assisted reproductive technology (ART) and assist couples with sterility/infertility issues.
- Know, promote, and support sex education (contraception, STD prevention, etc.)
- Know and understand pelvic floor rehabilitation techniques.
- Know and understand postnatal home obstetric care (community midwifery).
Prerequisites
The prerequisite is to have completed the internships of the previous two years.
Books
There are no written test requirements; it is an internship-based exam.
Frequency
Attendance at the internship is mandatory. The third year requires 720 hours.
Exam mode
The evaluations made by the tutors during the internship will be assessed.
Lesson mode
Teaching in the professionalizing degree, for the internship, is entrusted to individual tutors.
