Course objectives

At the end of the course the student must know the principal dietary schemes, alimentary topics, micro- and macronutrients of interest for the dental hygiene student. At the end of the course the student must be able to recognize the micro- and macronutrients that constitute the aliments and be able to prepare a diet.

Course program
1.To deepen knowledge of the interaction between nutrition and oral health, with particular attention to the nutrients involved in the formation, maintenance, and defense of hard and soft oral tissues. 2.To develop skills in patient dietary assessment and education, in order to promote eating habits conducive to the prevention of oral and systemic diseases. 3.To integrate dietary knowledge into the clinical practice of dental hygienists, for the planning of personalized interventions aimed at maintaining oral health and overall well-being.
