Course program
General information on the course (3 ECTS) The aim of the course is to provide basic concepts of Plant Pathology, mainly referring to plants with landscape value and examples of host-pathogen interactions in forest, ornamental and agricultural systems and sustainable prevention systems according to a holistic and circular economy concepts. I. Introductory and general concepts (1 ECTS) General part: Disease concept; pathogenicity and virulence; phytopathological mycology, bacteriology and virology; symptoms; etiological, biochemical and molecular diagnosis; elements of physiopathology; disease triangle, epidemiology; Mechanisms of attack of pathogens: abiotic diseases; II. diseases control (1 CFU) defense: conventional and biological prevention. Soil fertility and induced disease resistance. Biodeterioration concepts; III. host-pathogen interactions case studies (1 CFU) Exposure and discussion of examples of biotic and abiotic diseases with reference to the forest, ornamental and agricultural systems with landscape value.
Books
no texts are foreseen. The preparation is based on the slides of the frontal lessons, on the notions learned during the excursions and on the cartographic and documentary research.
