Course objectives

Learning outomes: The course aims to teach the essentials of plastic surgery and the correct methodological approach to diseases treated by plastic surgery procedures. The student must learn basic principles of plastic surgery, explain biological phenomena of the wound healing process of different types of reconstructive procedures and their clinical application on all anatomical districts. The student must practice and demonstrate systematic skills of physical diagnosis to describe findings of patients according to the principles of the discipline.

Course program
• Ritidectomia, mastopessi, addominoplastica Contents: Normal and pathological wound healing. Basic principle in plastic surgery: ● Excision and suturing ● Grafts and flaps ● “zeta”, “v-y” plasty etc. Burn: classification, diagnosis, systemic and local treatment. Principal vascular anomalies: Angiomas, Simple and Complex vascular Malformations. Traumas, tumors and malformations of the Head and Neck: reconstructive options. ● Craniofacial Traumas ● Principal tumors of the Head and Neck ● Simple and Complex Craniosinostosis, Facial clefts Traumas, tumors and malformations of the external genitalia: reconstructive options. ● Principal tumors of penis and testicle ● Hypospadias, Epyspadias, Fimosis ● Fournier Sindrome, Vaginal Aplasia Traumas, tumors and malformations of the chest wall: reconstructive options. ● Mastectomy and breast reconstruction ● Amastia and hypomastia, Hypermastia and gigantomastia ● Anisomastia and Poland sindrome Traumas, tumors and malformations of the limbs: reconstructive options. ● Amputations and replantations ● Principal tumors of the limbs ● Sindattily, polidattily, clinodattily, aracnodattily Aesthetic anomalies of aging: corrective options. ● Rhitidectomy, mastopexy, addominoplasty
Prerequisites
Requirements: Good knowledge of normal human anatomy, anatomical pathology and human physiology is required.

Evaluation methods: The final evaluation of the entire course will be based on the results of a written test structured as follows: - 15 questions about Dermatology module, - 15 questions about Plastic Surgery module. To improve the final grade, it is possible to ask for an oral examination.
