Course program
Introduction to the course. Articulation of the course, contents and its development. Conduct of the exam. Raw materials. The primary commodity market. The secondary raw materials market. Comparison between primary and secondary raw materials market. What is a crude mineral. The mineral deposits. The mines. Distinction between mines and quarries.
Solid materials: mineral solids and compound solids. Characteristics of solid materials: dimensions, shape, mechanical characteristics and physico-chemical characteristics. Plants for the reduction of solid particles: comminution "in situ" and comminution "in plant". Plants for the classification of particulate solids: classification of wet solids and classification of dry solids. Plants for the recovery and elimination of suspended solids in transport fluids: smoothing, centrifugation, filtration, ventilation and precipitation. Plants for the preparation of solid particulates for handling and transportation: de-aquification, drying, storage and bagging. Plants for the transport of solid particulates: transport on belts, channels, rakes, augers, etc. . Pipeline transport, bulk transport, rail, road and ship transport and loading and unloading. Plants for the storage and planting of particulate solids: cumulative stock, tank stock, granulated solid landfill, fine deposits, underground and surface storage-landfill. Control, sampling and recovery of stocks. Environmental impact of plants for the enhancement of raw materials: interaction with the geological body and interaction with the atmosphere. Technical and technical-economic aspects connected with the plants and the enhancement of raw materials.
