Course program
The course aims at examining the main topics of comparative public law: methods, legal traditions, history and spread of constitutionalism, forms of government, federalism, constitutional justice, and fundamental rights.
In the first part of the course, the focus will be on the method in comparative law. A comparison between the common law and civil law systems will then be conducted (12 hours). Specific attention will be given to the study of forms of state and forms of government (20 hours). Subsequently, the course will address the historical process concerning the emergence of a constitutional framework for fundamental rights, starting from the revolutions of the 17th and 18th centuries (25 hours).
Constitutional justice will be examined from a historical and comparative perspective (21 hours). Finally, the themes of federalism and regionalism will be explored in depth (9 hours). Specific seminars related to the main topics of the course will also be conducted (9 hours).
Prerequisites
Knowledge of at least one foreign language is useful.
There are no prerequisites.
