Sustainable tourism science

The program is conceived as an approximation to Spanish literature of the early twentieth century and intends to provide a picture of the development of the main literary genres from Modernism to the generation of 27. We will analyze the poetic works of authors such as Antonio Machado, Juan Ramón Jiménez, Federico García Lorca and Rafael Alberti. As far as narrative prose is concerned, we wil analyze the salient features of the modernist novel and propose a commentary by Niebla, a novel by Miguel de Unamuno. As far as the theater is concerned, we will focus on the origins and characteristics of the "esperpento" created by Ramón del Valle-Inclán and will present an analytical reading of some passages by Luces de Bohemia, a masterpiece by Valle-Inclán; finally, we will analyze the theatrical work Yerma, a rural drama by Federico García Lorca.

The course does not require specific prerequisites if not a minimum familiarity with the study of the literary text. A high school education is preferable, but students from technical and professional schools are also admitted; the teacher will provide them, individually and for groups, the tools necessary for the acquisition of a satisfactory competence in the analysis of the literary text.

Le lezioni del corso saranno prevalentemente a carattere frontale. La prima parte del corso (10 ore) verrà dedicata alla presentazione del panorama storico-letterario spagnolo di fine Ottocento e primi del Novecento e alla somministrazione di rudimenti di analisi del testo letterario, con particolare riguardo per la metrica e la retorica. Successivamente si passerà all'analisi dei testi inclusi nel programma d'esame: si comincerà dai testi poetici (20 ore) per proseguire con la presentazione dei tratti salienti del romanzo modernista e la lettura di alcuni brani di Niebla di Miguel de Unamuno (8 ore), per concludere con l'analisi delle due opere teatrali incluse nel programma (10 ore): Luces de Bohemia di Valle-Inclán e Yerma di Federico García Lorca.

It is scheduled an oral examination in which it will be verified the acquisition of course content and the skills necessary for the analysis of the literary text. The first part of the exam will focus on the analysis of a poetic text among those contained in the lecture notes by the teacher and analyzed in class; the second part will focus on the narrative prose (modernist novel and Niebla) and the third on the theatrical genre (Luces de Bohemia and Yerma). For each answer, the student must demonstrate knowledge of the work required and know how to place it in the historical-literary context of reference.

The lessons will take place mainly in frontal mode.
