Course program
The course will be dedicated to an introductory presentation of the cultural and touristic heritage of Portuguese-speaking countries; specific reflections will be devoted to the specialised vocabulary of the touristic field and to the related translation problems.
The course also includes a "lettorato" workshop, held by a native speaker. Students can choose independently whether to follow the lectures with a Portuguese native speaker or with a Brazilian native speaker.

Teaching mode
The course is divided into two parts: 1) linguistics module (taught by the professor) and 2) "lettorato" (held by native speakers).
1) The linguistics module is mainly structured through lectures. The first part of the course will be devoted to an introductory presentation of the cultural and tourist heritage of Portuguese-speaking countries. The second part of the course will be devoted to an in-depth study of the Portuguese tourism lexicon and related translation issues.
2) Students can autonomously choose whether to follow the "lettorato" with a native Portuguese speaking collaborator or with a native Brazilian speaking collaborator.
Frequency
The linguistics module is a six-month course and provides one lesson for two hours a week.
The "lettorato" is a six-month course and provides two lessons for two hours a week.
Exam mode
The final examination consists of three tests:
1) written examination in literature;
2) oral examination in literature;
3) oral test with the professor (language module);
The two oral tests must be taken in the same call.
The written language test comprises interpretation, grammar, vocabulary and written production.
The oral examination complements the written examination by testing the level of oral communication skills.
In order to pass the examination, a mark of at least 18/30 is required. In the oral examination for the language module, the student must demonstrate that he/she has acquired sufficient knowledge of the morphosyntax of Portuguese and its variants, including in translation, and that he/she is able to carry out correct analyses of morphemes, syntagmas and syntactic structures in Portuguese texts. In order to obtain a mark of 30/30 with distinction, the student, in addition to having obtained the highest marks in the literature tests, must demonstrate that he/she has acquired an excellent knowledge of all the topics covered during the course, being able to link them together in a logical and coherent manner.
