Educational objectives Consistent with the educational objectives of the Study Program in which it is inserted, the course aims to provide basic knowledge and understanding in the field of ARCHAEOLOGY AND HISTORY OF ISLAMIC ART I, with the support of advanced textbooks, and to enable the student to apply the acquired knowledge in a competent and reflective way, formulating judgments autonomously, communicating ideas, problems and reflections in a clear and correct way, and thus developing the skills necessary to undertake any subsequent studies.
The aim of the course is a basic knowledge of the origin and formation of Islamic material culture and artistic expression, deepening both the transition from late antiquity and the pre-Islamic Iranian civilization accomplished during the first years of expansion from the Arabian Peninsula, and the consequent contributions of specific elements, from the plans to the iconography to the symbols. The student will also be informed about the history of Islamic archeology studies and the relationship between the two Mediterranean cultures (Christian and Islamic) in the Middle Ages.

Educational objectives The student will have to acquire high-level knowledge and ability to interpret events in the field of contemporary Italian literature, with attention to the most recent developments in the debate and disciplinary bibliography; he will also have to be able to collect and interpret the data on which to base a judgment that is critically aware, also in the ethical-social dimension underlying the discipline. The student will therefore have to know how to use the knowledge acquired in arguing, in dealing with open questions, in implementing study and research methods, and will have to be able to communicate the results of his work both to specialist subjects and to an audience of non- subject matter experts. Finally, the student must be provided with the necessary skills to successfully undertake a future specialist degree course that includes exams in contemporary Italian literature.

The course intends to provide a presentation of the Anatolian culture of the 2nd millennium BC, in particular by exemplifying the aspects of the ritualistic and magical experience of an ancient culture. Through the presentation of the Hittite language, the student will receive the experience of an archaic language of the Indo-European group.

Educational objectives The course intends to introduce the students to the modern theories, methodologies and techniques of the archeological, artistic and literary analysis of the most important ancient eastern cultures of Mesopotamia. Students will know the artistic resources and cultural heritage corresponding to the area and the period studied, of tourist interest, suitable for professional use. This knowledge can be applied to the study of the promotion and pedagogy of the historical artistic and archaeological heritage, developing the ability to formulate judgments by coordinating and contextualizing the topics professionally, making a correct use of the available bibliography, and being able to carry out research on the specific aspects of the disciplinary sector bound to tourism studies.
